Our Process
Orthotics should reflect your needs, whether medical or lifestyle based. Here’s how we do that:
Assessment
We conduct a full assessment to understand what you need. This includes:
A detailed history
Weight-bearing & non-weight-bearing examination
Functional testing
Gait analysis
Full treatment plan for footwear, lifestyle, and orthotic recommendations as needed
2. Measurement & Casting
We take measurements to help provide footwear advice and to sculpt your orthotic to fit your shoes even better
A true custom orthotic should be made from a 3D volumetric mould of your foot in a non-weight-bearing position. We use a 3D laser Infrared scanner in most cases, though foam impressions and plaster casts can provide similar results.
3. Design & Fabrication
A custom orthotic takes a lot of work to create. In our practice, orthotics are designed, fabricated, and fit by your pedorthist to suit your biomechanics, footwear, and lifestyle.
Using digital CAD/CAM processes and 3D printing allows full control of your clinician in making and adjusting your orthotics in house, without needing to send away for changes. This also allows for unique design choices that aren’t always possible with other manufacturing methods.
4. Fitting & Guarantee
Orthotic fittings are done in-person by your Pedorthist to ensure they fit your foot and footwear properly. That way, we can also adjust them if needed before you begin wearing them long term. Orthotics can feel strange at first, but they should be both comfortable and functional within a few weeks.
While nobody can guarantee the success of their treatment plan, we will make sure the orthotics fit properly, comfortably, and are built to provide the function that we believe will help you. If this is not the case, we will adjust, remake, or potentially refund them to ensure you are satisfied with the product. This guarantee is valid for 6 months from your fitting date and includes 6 months of free adjustments if necessary.
